When I worked as a chef in a resort in Jamaica, I was told it is alot like mustard, made into a paste it help relieve congestion if you have a cold, along with the tea already mentions, as a antiseptic cleanser for cuts and scrapes mixed with baking soda and water and whether it is fresh or powdered added to food or drank as tea, it can cure bouts of irregular flatulence.
